Speaking what you believe

I’ve noticed another trend recently is being cynical:

– doubtful as to whether something will happen or whether it is worthwhile.

– contemptuous; mocking.

It is much easier to question something then it is to stand for something. When you stand for something, you risk other people criticizing you. And people definitely will. Even for being a Christian.

1 Corinthians 1:18

The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.

The message of the cross is that there is a God who loves us and He sent his Son to die for us and save us from our own brokenness and after 3 days Jesus rose from the dead. Pastor Karyn preached on Sunday and something she said was “The thought that someone would rise from the dead is ridiculous, it is miraculous. I also believe that it’s true.”.

I challenge you to speak your beliefs like you actually believe them. Don’t be obnoxious, be sure to do this with gentleness and respect, but speak with authority. Maybe you don’t know for sure that Jesus is who He says He is. That’s okay! It’s important enough to explore though. You can read the bible, you can ask us questions, and you can pray and ask God to help you know if He’s there. He isn’t afraid of that question. And if you do believe He’s there and want to make the decision to follow Him and give your life to Him, tell Him! And also come and tell one of your leaders here.

– Productive criticizing or questioning is different from being cynical. How are they different?

– How can you say what you believe while still being respectful and gentle?

-What do you believe about Jesus?

Close in Prayer.
