5/12/20 Ezra’s Discussion: Pray for Salvation

When we experience suffering and fear, we may be tempted to blame God, or others around us, and others may want to blame us for our own suffering, but God doesn’t want us to be captivated by these thoughts.

He wants us to pray for salvation, and to have a correct perspective of His characteristics.

Know who God really is, and keep His true attributes in mind, especially when we are tempted to think otherwise.

“Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm: “Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. “Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself? Do you have an arm like God’s, and can your voice thunder like his? Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor, and clothe yourself in honor and majesty. Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at every proud man and bring him low, look at every proud man and humble him, crush the wicked where they stand. Bury them all in the dust together; shroud their faces in the grave. Then I myself will admit to you that your own right hand can save you.”

-Job 40:6-14 (NIV)

“Then Job replied to the Lord: “I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.”

-Job 42:1-2 (NIV)

“After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before.”

-Job 42:10 (NIV)

“The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the first …. After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation.”

-Job 42:12a,16 (NIV)

So if you are suffering in any way, or know someone else who is, don’t just immediately blame or accuse anyone. Pray for salvation.

There are many things we can be saved from, and the biggest problem we have as humankind is our own sin that separates us from God. God offers forgiveness for this sin if we ask Him and trust Jesus to pay for our sin with His death on the cross. Because He came back to life, He showed that He has power over sin and death, so we don’t have to feel powerless about those things anymore. If you have not asked God to save you, prayer is the best way to start that process.

-Prayer

If you decide to pray to ask God to forgive you for your sins and trust in Jesus to lead you through life with hope and a future with Him, let others know about it and share the news with us so we can encourage you and support your decision and future walk with Jesus together.
