What lessons have you learned the easy way?

“And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.”

Jonah thought he was going to die, was swallowed by a huge fish, and prayed to God, who made sure Jonah lived and was able to do what God wanted Jonah to do in the first place. Jonah probably wasn’t very happy about being covered in fish vomit, but was probably glad to still be alive. Jonah’s hard experiences gave him a fresh perspective on his situation. Sometimes God allows us to get into in bad situations so that we realize something we otherwise were not willing to listen to Him about.
