Ezra’s Discussion: Training

Rocky was training his body to fight, to be strong, fast, and resilient. He did hard training that his body adjusted to, so that it could rest, recover and grow stronger to compete professionally.

This sort of regular challenge can be called discipline, you can receive it from a coach, a parent, or even from yourself. Mature people can learn to benefit from self discipline and often have the best results, or encourage each other to exceed their own expectations. The Bible has some verses that mention discipline and training. Let’s read a few:

“Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. “Make level paths for your feet,” so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.” -Hebrews 12:10-13 (NIV)

Have you had to physically train for something? Practice for a performance?

What was the hardest thing you ever did?

Did you see a positive result of the training or practice?

Some of us are ok with physical challenges, but have not been challenged in other ways.

Who thinks they don’t really have much to challenge them in their life?

Pray to God to reveal an opportunity to grow in your relationship with Him.
