Cyndi’s Lesson:

“But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” -1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV)

Man looks at outward appearance

“My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don’t show favoritism. Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in. If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?” -James 2:1-5 (NIV)

Don’t show partiality

“Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him.”

God sees every Human as valuable, and doesn’t value one above another.

Have you ever had someone treat you like you’re less than human?

Has it ever been because of something really shallow? 

Is there a certain thing that you struggle with seeing someone as human? (Money or lack thereof, job, way they dress, the way they talk)
