Ezra’s Talk: Who are you?

How do you describe yourself to others?

How do others describe you?

The world wants us to put our identity, mission, and our individual value into temporary things, to invest in what our culture cares about, some of which can be good things, but they don’t always have eternal value. These things can be a distraction from better things that God has for us.

How does God see you?

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd”
-Matthew 9:36 (NIV)

Can you name a famous artist?

How does God value you?

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.”
-Psalm 139:14 (NIV)

God made each of us like priceless works of art, unique and wonderful, reflecting His vision and creativity. Can you be inspired by other people? I can. Probably because people are made by God, even though many aren’t embracing that reality yet, and many don’t understand or appreciate their own value.

“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
-Galatians 3:26-29 (NIV)

Do you appreciate your value, and agree with God that you were wonderfully made? Pray to ask God to reveal what reality you have been missing, and pray to clean away the false ideas that you have been accepting from the culture around you.
