7/7/20 Cyndi’s Zoom Talk: Jonathan

Saul was the first king of Israel, but God was going to replace him because he was reckless, impatient, and didn’t want to wait on God for answers. Jonathan is his son. He’s one of my favorite dudes from the Bible. He’s kinda the original good guy bro.

-1 Samuel 14:1-23

What did you notice about the story?

What did you guys think of the armor bearer?

Was this testing God?

Why or why not?

Do not test the Lord your God as you did at Massah.” -Deuteronomy 6:16

“If You are the Son of God,” he said, “throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’b 7Jesus replied, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’c” –Matthew 4:6

How is this situation different?

(Jonathan trusted God regardless of the outcome and was ready to obey)
